this appliance.  
Never use your appliance for warming or  
heating the room.  
• DoNotUseWaterorFlouronGreaseFires.Smotherthe  
fire with a pan lid, or use baking soda, a dry chemical or  
foam-typeextinguisher.

authorized repair service. Know how to disconnect the

• User Servicing. Do not repair or replace any part of the  
appliance unless specifically recommended in the  
manuals. All other servicing should be done only by a

• UseOnlyDryPotholders. Moistordamppotholderson  
hot surfaces may result in burns from steam. Do not let  
the pot holders touch hot surface units. Do not use a towel  
or other bulky cloth instead of a pot holder.  
• Do Not Heat Unopened Food Containers. Buildup of  
pressure may cause the container to burst and result in  
injury.  
• Never modify or alter the construction of an appliance  
such as removal of panels, wire covers or any other  
permanent part of the appliance.

a power failure. If the power fails, always turn off the  
cooktop. If the cooktop is not turned off and the power

andclothitems,suchascookbooks,plasticwareandtowels,  
as well as flammable liquids. Do not store explosives, such  
as aerosol cans, on or near the appliance. Flammable

• Know which knob controls each surface unit.  
Do not store items of interest to children in  
the cabinets above the appliance. Children climbing on the  
cooktop to reach items could be seriously injured.  
• Clean the appliance regularly to keep all parts free of  
greasethatcouldcatchfire.Exhaustfanventilationhoods  
and grease filters should be kept clean. Do not allow grease  
to accumulate on hood or filter. Greasy deposits in the fan  
couldcatchfire. Whenflamingfoodunderthehood, turnfan  
on. Refer to hood manufacturer's instructions for cleaning.  
• Do not leave children alone. Children should not be left  
aloneorunattendedintheareawhereanapplianceisin  
use.Theyshouldneverbeallowedtositorstandonanypart  
of the appliance.  
• DO NOT TOUCH SURFACE UNITS OR AREAS NEAR  
THESE UNITS. Surface units may be hot even though they  
are dark in color. Areas near surface units may become hot  
enough to cause burns. During and after use, do not touch,

• Never Leave Surface Units Unattended. Boilovers cause  
smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite, or a pan that  
has boiled dry may melt.  
• Clean Cooktop with Caution. If a wet sponge or cloth is  
used to wipe spills on a hot cooking area, be careful to avoid  
a steam burn. Some cleaners can produce harmful fumes if  
applied to a hot surface.  
• Protective Liners. Do not use aluminum foil to line any part  
oftheappliance.Onlyusealuminumfoilasrecommendedfor  
baking if used as a cover placed on the food. Any other use  
of protective liners or aluminum foil may result in a risk of  
electric shock or fire or short circuit.  
• DoNotPlaceHotCookwareonColdCooktopGlass.This  
could cause glass to break.  
• Glazed Cooking Utensils. Only certain types of glass,  
glass/ceramic, ceramic, earthenware, or other glazed  
utensils are suitable for range top service without breaking

The ceramic cooktop has radiant surface elements located below the surface of the  
glass. The design of the ceramic cooktop outlines the area of the surface element  
underneath. Make sure the diameter of the pan matches the diameter of the element  
outline on the cooktop (See Figs. 1 & 2).

elements in use and their settings are all factors that will affect the amount of heat that

About the Radiant Surface Elements

The element temperature rises gradually and evenly. As the temperature rises, the  
element will glow red. To maintain the selected setting, the element will cycle ON and  
OFF.Theheatingelementretainsenoughheattoprovideauniformandconsistentheat  
during the OFF cycle. For efficient cooking, turn OFF the element several minutes  
before cooking is complete. This will allow residual heat to complete the cooking  
process.

Setting Surface Controls  
Operating the Single Surface Radiant Elements  
The 36" cooktop has a single radiant surface element located at center rear (Fig. 1)  
elementposition.  
To Operate the Single Surface Element  
1. Place correctly sized cookware on the radiant surface element.

2. Pushinandturnthesurfacecontrolknobineitherdirectiontothedesiredsettingusing  
the ESEC digital display window to verify (Fig. 2). Turn the knob to adjust the setting  
as needed.

3. Start most cooking operations on a higher setting and then turn to a lower setting to  
finish cooking. Each surface element provides a constant amount of heat at each  
setting.Aglowingredsurfaceheatingareaextendingbeyondthebottomedgeofthe  
cookware indicates the cookware is too small for the surface heating area.  
4. Whencookinghascompleted,turnthesurfacecontrolknobto OFFbeforeremoving  
thecookware.Note:ThesurfaceElementOnindicatorlightswillglowwhenoneor  
more elements are turned on. A quick glance at these indicator lights when cooking  
is finished is an easy check to be sure all surface elements are turned off. Also, the  
HEmessagewillappearinthedisplayafterturningthecontrolknobtoOFFifthecooktop  
is still hot and remain on until the heating surface area has cooled sufficiently.

To Operate the Dual Surface Element:  
1. Place correctly sized cookware on the dual surface element.  
2. Push in and turn the control knob counterclockwise (See Figs. 5 & 7) for smaller  
cookware or clockwise (See Figs. 6 & 8) for larger cookware to the desired setting  
using the ESEC digital display window for the desired setting.

Cleaning Various Parts of Your Cooktop  
Beforecleaninganypartofthecooktop, besureallcontrolsareturnedOFFandthecooktopisCOOL. REMOVESPILLOVERS  
AND HEAVY SOILING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. REGULAR CLEANING WILL REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MAJOR  
CLEANINGLATER.  
Surfaces  
How to Clean  
Aluminum (Trim Pieces)  
Use hot, soapy water and a cloth or paper towel. Dry with a clean cloth.  
Painted and Plastic  
Control Knobs, Body Parts,  
andDecorativeTrim  
Using a soft cloth, clean with mild dish detergent and water or a 50/50 solution of vinegar  
and water. Follow by rinsing the area with clean water; dry and polish with a soft cloth.  
Glass cleaners may be used if sprayed on a soft cloth first. DO NOTsprayliquidsdirectly  
onthecontrolpadanddisplayarea.Donotuselargeamountsofwateronthecontrolpanel  
- excess water on the control area may cause damage to the appliance. Do not use other  
liquidcleaners,abrasivecleaners,scouring pads,orsomepapertowels-theywilldamage  
the finish.  
ControlPanel  
Wipe the control panel clean after each use. Before cleaning the control panel, turn all  
controls to OFF and remove the control knobs. To remove, pull each knob straight off the  
shaft.Cleanusinghot,soapywaterandacloth.Besuretosqueezeexcesswaterfromthe  
cloth before wiping the panel; especially when wiping around the controls. Excess water  
in or around the controls may cause damage to the appliance. To replace knobs after  
cleaning,lineuptheflatsidesofboththeknobandtheshaft;thenpushtheknobintoplace.  
Stainless Steel, Chrome  
(brushed)  
DecorativeTrimCooktop  
Clean stainless steel with hot, soapy water and a dishcloth. Rinse with clean water and  
a cloth. Do not use cleaners with high concentrations of chlorides or chlorines. Do  
notuseharshscrubbingcleaners. Onlyusekitchencleanersthatareespeciallymadefor  
cleaning stainless steel. Always be sure to rinse the cleaners from the surface as bluish  
stains may occur during heating that cannot be removed.

problem is a circuit overload, have this situation corrected by a qualified electrician. (2) Service

be sure. Call local electric company.  
Surface element does not  
heat.  
(1)Nopowertoappliance.Check/resetbreakerorreplacefuse.Iftheproblemisacircuitoverload,  
or improper connection of the armored cable supplied with the appliance, have this situation  
correctedbyaqualifiedelectrician.(2)Toolowheatsetting.Turncontroltoaslightlyhighersetting  
until element comes on. (3) Incorrect control is on. Be sure to use correct control for the element  
to be used.  
Surface element too hot or  
not hot enough.  
(1) Incorrect control setting. Raise or lower setting until proper amount of heat is obtained. Dial  
markings are an indicator of relative heat settings and will vary slightly. (2) Lightweight or warped  
pans being used. Use only flat, evenly balanced, medium or heavyweight cookware. (3) Voltage  
is incorrect. Be sure appliance is properly connected to the specified power source. (4) Use only  
flat bottom, evenly balanced, medium or heavyweight cookware. Pans having a flat bottom heat  
betterthanwarpedpans.Cookwarematerialaffectsheating.Heavyandmediumweightpansheat  
evenly. Because lightweight pans heat unevenly, foods may burn easily.  
Food not heating evenly.  
(1)Impropercookware.Selectflat-bottomedcookwareofapropersizetofitelement.(2)Incorrect  
control setting. Raise or lower setting until proper amount of heat is obtained.  
Scratches or abrasions on  
ceramicglasscooktop  
surface.  
(1)Coarseparticles(suchassaltorsand)arebetweencooktopandutensil.Besurecooktopsurface  
andbottomofutensilsarecleanbeforeuse.Smallscratchesdonotaffectcookingandwillbecome  
lessvisiblewithuse.(2)Cleaningmaterialsnotrecommendedforglassceramiccooktophavebeen  
used.SeeCeramic-GlassCooktop sectioninthisOwner'sGuide.(3)Cookwarewithroughbottom  
hasbeenused.Useflat-bottomed,smoothutensils.SeeSelectingSurfaceCookingUtensilsin

Metal marks on ceramic

surface. Use a mildly abrasive cleanser to remove marks.

(1) Boilovers have cooked onto surface. Use razor blade scraper to remove soil. See Ceramic-  
Glass Cooktop section in this Owner's Guide. (2) Cleaning materials not recommended for  
ceramic-glasscooktophavebeenused. Userecommendedcleanersandcleaningmethod. See  
Ceramic-Glass Cooktop section in this Owner's Guide.  
Areas of discoloration on  
ceramicglasscooktop  
surface.  
(1)Mineraldepositsfromwaterandfood.Wetsurfacewithwaterandsprinkleonacooktopcleaning  
creme.Scrubwithacleandamppapertoweluntilthestaindisappears.Wiperemainingpasteaway,  
then apply a small amount of cooktop cleaning creme and polish with a clean paper towel. Use  
cookwarewithclean, drybottoms. See Ceramic-GlassCooktop sectioninthisOwner'sGuide.

Major Appliance Warranty Information  
Your appliance is covered by a one year limited warranty. For one year from your original date of  
purchase, Electrolux will pay all costs for repairing or replacing any parts of this appliance that prove to be  
defective in materials or workmanship when such appliance is installed, used and maintained in  
accordance with the provided instructions.  
Exclusions  
This warranty does not cover the following:  
1. Products with original serial numbers that have been removed, altered or cannot be readily determined.  
2. Product that has been transferred from its original owner to another party or removed outside the USA or  
Canada.  
3. Rust on the interior or exterior of the unit.  
4. Products purchased "as-is" are not covered by this warranty.  
5. Food loss due to any refrigerator or freezer failures.  
6. Products used in a commercial setting.  
7. Service calls which do not involve malfunction or defects in materials or workmanship, or for appliances  
not in ordinary household use or used other than in accordance with the provided instructions.  
8. Service calls to correct the installation of your appliance or to instruct you how to use your appliance.  
9. Expenses for making the appliance accessible for servicing, such as removal of trim, cupboards,  
shelves, etc., which are not a part of the appliance when it is shipped from the factory.  
10. Service calls to repair or replace appliance light bulbs, air filters, water filters, other consumables, or  
knobs, handles, or other cosmetic parts.  
11. Surcharges including, but not limited to, any after hour, weekend, or holiday service calls, tolls, ferry trip  
charges, or mileage expense for service calls to remote areas, including the state of Alaska.  
12. Damages to the finish of appliance or home incurred during installation, including but not limited to  
floors, cabinets, walls, etc.  
13. Damages caused by: services performed by unauthorized service companies; use of parts other than  
genuine Electrolux parts or parts obtained from persons other than authorized service companies; or  
external causes such as abuse, misuse, inadequate power supply, accidents, fires, or acts of God.
